The PR (Personal Records) List
Runners love to talk about their previous running conquests and developed the acronym PR as a reference to your best time at a given distance.  While many us may have run PR's on our various training courses, I believe you can only count something as a PR if you did it in an "Official Race."  It's just like anything else--doesn't matter what you did in practice, it matters how well that practice translates to 'Game Day' performance.

The great thing about running is that it's the only sport in the world where you can actually compete head to head with the best in the world.  I will never be in a basketball game with Michael Jordan but I could be in a race with Utta Pipping, Frank Shorter, or Todd Williams.  Of course, I'd probably never see them but that's not the point.

Below is a list of what I think are my official PR's for each distance.  Prior to 1996, I didn't keep written
logs.  However, I believe my best period of running was from 1995 to 1997 so it's safe to say this is probably the best I've ever done.

I don't think I won anything with this time but I ran a 1:05:00 to set a TN State Record for 26 yr old males in 1997.  (This record has been broken.)

A rare distance, my best as well as most recent time was for the first running of Knoxville Maration (and 1/2 Maration) in 2005.
